hello.. I'm back.

Yeah.. so I need to get back into my blogging.. I have totally neglected it and I really need to start back up again. One of the highlights of the months past was definately granting a wish for a 15 year old boy named Adam. We took him to a Memphis Grizzlies game where he was presented with his wish (a laptop) by his favorite Grizzlies player, Rudy Gay. It was an amazing night! During the game, Adam and a friend sat courtside where they could take in every little detail of the game. Adam was so excited about his new laptop, that he wanted to leave early to go home and set it up. I love volunteering with the amazing organization that is The Make a Wish Foundation.

My Prayer

Heavenly Father, Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day ("who really ought to get a job") is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savoring this moment, knowing that based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.Heavenly Father, remind us each day That of all the gifts you give us Lord, the greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity.
Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.Working for God on earth doesn't pay much......but His retirement plan is out of this world.

Part of Being Human...

I have to say.. I haven't found much motivation to write lately. I have been in somewhat of a slump these past few weeks. I've had a lot on my mind, and for some reason, that makes me so unmotivated to do anything. The past couple of days I have been revived at the thought of having my bible study tonight. I have definitely neglected my time with Jesus during this slump. I think I may just be overwhelmed at the thought of the things I must do and the places I must go. It's time for a vacation to really get away from all the stresses/day to day boredom and just fix my focus on the Lord. I have to admit it's been a little lonely too. Satan is trying to get at me. I need to make sure he doesn't have his way anymore. I have to stomp out that devil and reclaim the joy that only God can bring. That consistent joy that is present no matter what my circumstances may be.

Lord, forgive me for neglecting my time with you. I know that it's because I've taken my steady focus off of you and I've put them on what I don't have. I love you Lord. Help me to stay focused on you. Fill me with your spirit and help me to stay strong through this time when I'm doubting myself. Thank-you Lord for being my constant friend and for always being there. I love you Lord.

He knows...

Psalm 139
“O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do…You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!.” (vs. 1-3,5-6)

What powerful words! I know that so many Christians are disappointed and even fearful after the results of the elections last night. Don't fear friends. We have a God who has spoken. We have dedicated hours of prayer to this election and God's will has been done. Yes, there may be some tough times ahead for everyone, but that dosen't mean we should fear or be upset. God is on the throne and we have the victory in the end. God knows the bigger picture. WE must draw even closer to him and allow him comfort us and keep us under his wing. Take time today to spend a few or several moments with your creator. He wants to spend time with you. He created you to worship him. He wants us to lean all of our cares on him. ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO LOVE THE LORD. It's time for christians to rise up and pray and stand up for what we believe in. We need to stand up now more than ever and be strong in our faith and in our convictions. WE will be attacked. God is bigger than all of this. Take heart. God is alive and well. He is working in all of this. We have the vicotory.

A friend sent me these verses and it's a call to accept the will of God and even to pray for those we don't agree with..

Check out this passage from Prov 24:21-22 (notice the play on “change”)

21My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
22For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

No need to fear..

You know what to do!!

*'Twas the night before elections* *And all through the town* *Tempers were flaring* *Emotions all up and down!* ** *I, in my bathrobe* *With a cat in my lap* *Had cut off the TV* *Tired of political crap.* ** *When all of a sudden* *There arose such a noise* *I peered out of my window* *Saw Obama and his boys* ** *They had come for my wallet* *They wanted my pay* *To give to the others* *Who had not worked a day!* ** *He snatched up my money* *And quick as a wink* *Jumped back on his bandwagon* *As I gagged from the stink* ** *He then rallied his henchmen* *Who were pulling his cart* *I could tell they were out* *To tear my country apart!* ** *' On Fannie, on Freddie, * *On Biden and Ayers!* *On Acorn, On Pelosi'* *He screamed at the pairs!* ** *They took off for his cause* *And as he flew out of sight* *I heard him laugh at the nation* *Who wouldn't stand up and fight!* ** *So I leave you to think* *On this one final note-* *IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM* *GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!*

coping

OK.. i'm tired!! Do you ever just need a day to just rest? I do! I've decided the way that I cope with being very tired and having too much on my mind is by just laying.. laying and doing nothing.. as I think about it, everytime i've been sad, overwhelmed or just tired.. i just lay down and watch some TV all night.. I need one of those nights real bad. I keep forgetting and misplacing stuff.. I'm not sure when that night will occur, but I know that it better come soon!!

A road trip would be good too.. any takers?
